Activity at Karachi and Qasim Ports

31/07/2012 (Business Recorder) - The Karachi Port handled 55,773 tonnes of cargo comprising 36,975 tonnes of import cargo and 18,798 tonnes of export cargo including 1,964 loaded & empty containers during last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Monday. The total import cargo of 36,975 tonnes comprised of 12,889 tonnes of containerised cargo; 7,348 tonnes of general cargo; 10,538 tonnes of bulk cargo: 3,662 tonnes of DAP; 6,876 tonnes of rock phosphate and 6,200 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

31/07/2012 (Reuters) - Malaysia will increase shipping quotas for tax free crude palm oil by up to 2 million tonnes this year to help planters cope with higher output in the next few months, government sources said, as the world's No.2 supplier struggles to maintain its export momentum.

Delivery Deadline Extended to 2013 For \'First Car\"

31/07/2012 (The Nation) - The Cabinet yesterday approved the Finance Ministry's request to extend the deadline of car delivery under the government's policy for first-time car buyers to March next year. However, all first-time car buyers need to submit the required documents to the Excise Tax Department by the end of December. The buyers will also enjoy a tax refund if they hang on to the car for at least a year.
