KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 15): The oil palm industry, especially the half million smallholders, need to do more for their oil palm cultivation business despite working with lower plantation acreage to earn a better living, and this can be done through mechanisation and adoption of technology, according to a plantation industry think tank.

NEW DELHI, Dec 15 — India imported 333,383 tonnes of crude palm oil (CPO) from Malaysia in November, representing about 56 per cent of its total CPO imports, according to latest industry data.

FGV Transport Services Sdn Bhd (FGV Transport), a subsidiary of FGV Holdings Berhad (FGV) has received halal logistics certification from the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) for 76 tanker trucks operating at its Pasir Gudang depot in Johor. The halal logistics certification falls under the category of Halal Supply Chain Management System for transportation.

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 15 - Malaysian palm oil futures eased on Tuesday as rival soybean oil and crude declined, although expectations of better exports during the first half of December put a floor under prices.

CRUDE palm oil (CPO) prices have been rising this year to attain an eight-year high despite the Covid-19 pandemic, suggesting brighter prospects for the plantation sector.

China’s General Administration of Customs reported at its monthly briefing on Nov. 30 that it has now completed the requisite plant and animal quarantine protocols for agricultural produce under the phase 1 trade agreement between China and the U.S. At the briefing, Zhao Zenglian, head of the GAC’s Department of Animal and Plant Quarantine, announced that all 37 relevant tasks had been completed on time and to a high standard.

India's palm oil imports fell 8% on year in November to their lowest in five months, as a rally in the price of the tropical oil made soyoil more attractive for refiners, a leading trade body said on Tuesday.

Russia, one of the world’s largest wheat exporters, plans to impose an export tax on the product of 25 euros ($30.4) a tonne between Feb. 15 and June 30, economy minister Maxim Reshetnikov told a government meeting.

Russia is also planning an export tax on wheat, as part of measures to stabilise rising domestic food prices.
