19/09/2013 (THISDay) - Chairman of the Vegetable/Edible Oil Producers Association of Nigeria, Chief Okey Ikoro, spoke with Senator Iroegbu on how the sector, which should have been the best revenue generator for the country after crude oil, is gradually being killed by the federal government\'s policy of duty waivers, and activities of ECOWAS countries. Palm Oil Declines as Rainfall Boosts U.S. Soybean Crop Prospects
19/09/2013 (Bloomberg) - Palm oil dropped for the first time in four days on speculation that rain in the U.S. Midwest will halt deteriorating conditions of the soybean crop, boosting supplies of the oilseed crushed to make a substitute oil.

Activity at Karachi and Qasim Ports
19/09/2013 (Business Recorder) - The Karachi Port handled 150,269 tonnes of cargo comprising 132,001 tonnes of import cargo and 18,268 tonnes of export cargo including 6,352 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Wednesday. The total import cargo of 132,001 tonnes comprised 54,354 tonnes of containerised cargo; 36,927 tonnes of bulk cargo: 22,151 tonnes of coal; 6,573 tonnes of DAP; 5,251 tonnes of rape seed; 1,303 tonnes of palm kernel expeller; 1,649 tonnes of soyabean meal and 40,720 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The delegation comprises of representatives from the Ministry of Plantation Industries and Commodities, Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB), Malaysian Palm Oil Council (MPOC), Malaysian Timber Council (MTC), Malaysian Timber Certification Council (MTCC) and the private sector.

Edible Oils Turn Bearish on Clear Weather
18/09/2013 (Hindu Business Line) - Clear weather and increased arrivals of kharif crop along with initial weakness in the futures market pulled down edible oils prices on Tuesday. Groundnut and sunflower oil declined by Rs 10 and Rs 5 each. Rapeseed and cotton oil dip by Rs 2 each.
