Palmolein Drops to ₹600/10 KG

11/04/2014 (Hindu Business Line) - Bearish trend continued in edible oils market on Thursday tracking weak Malaysian palm oil futures amid slack physical demand. Activities remained thin in resale as stockists stayed away. On Bombay Commodity Exchange, groundnut oil dropped by ₹20 while soyabean refined, cotton refined, rapeseed refined oil and palmolein declined by ₹3 for 10 kg each. Palmolein dropped to ₹600 level on higher reselling pressure.

African Lion Agriculture to Plant 10,000 Acres of Palm Oil

11/04/2014 (Awareness Times) - A component project under the Sierra Rutile Mining Company, the Africa Lion Agricultural Company, has commenced a serial cultivation of palm oil, coffee, pineapple, cocoa and rubber plantations in Imperi, Upper Banta and Jong chiefdoms among other mining communities. The Africa Lion Agriculture intends to plant over ten thousand acres of oil palm as well as hundreds of acres of pineapple, cocoa, coffee and rubber plantations. The project started over a year ago as an alternative to mining in order to improve the livelihood of people in Sierra Rutile mining communities.

Xebec's first Palm Oil Mill Effluent (POME) Biogas Upgrading Plant Receives Visit of Datuk Dr. Ewon Ebin, Malaysia's Minister for Science, Technology and Innovation

11/04/2014 (Wall Street Journal) - Xebec Adsorption Inc. (TSXV: XBC) ("Xebec"), a provider of biogas upgrading, natural gas, field gas and hydrogen purification and filtration solutions for the clean energy and crude-derived fuels displacement markets, announced today that Datuk Dr. Ewon Ebin, Malaysia's Minister for Science, Technology and Innovation has recently paid a working visit to Xebec's biogas upgrading plant located on Cary Island in Selangor. The plant was commissioned in June last year, and utilizes Xebec's advanced biogas upgrading technology, which transforms and upgrades the biogas from palm oil mill effluents (POME) into compressed natural gas for transportation use. The plant has a design capacity of 500 liters of gasoline equivalent a day.
