Unilever call for certified sustainable palm oil
07/05/2008 (CS Asia) - Following a report from Greenpeace, Unilever has committed to using only palm oil from certified sustainable sources from the second half of this year. The Jakarta Post reports the key item for Indonesia - the supply angle - that Unilever chief executive Patrick Cescau said in a statement that "Suppliers need to move to meet the criteria, by getting certified both the palm oil from their own plantations and the palm oil they buy from elsewhere." Greenpeace want Unilever to work with the RSPO on this. As they say in Singapore 'so how'; or more appropriately in this case 'so when'?

But Diesel's design was eclipsed by automobile engines that ran on petroleum-based fuel. Today, though, with concerns about the environment and the supply of oil, diesel engines – and the sustainable options for running them – are getting a second look. Auto industry analysts expect sales of diesel-powered cars in the United States to triple in the next decade, and many of those drivers will be looking for plant-based fuel, "bio-diesel," to put in their tanks.
