EIA: Biodiesel capacity falls slightly
16/08/2024 (Biodiesel Magazine) - There were 56 biodiesel plants with a combined 2.09 billion gallons per year of production capacity in the U.S. as of Jan. 1, 2024, according to data released by the U.S. Energy Information Administration on Aug. 15.
According to the EIA, the number of U.S. biodiesel plants fell by three between Jan. 1, 2023, and Jan. 1, 2024. Capacity also fell by 4 million gallons per year during the period.
More than 70% of U.S. biodiesel capacity is located in the Midwest, with 14% located in the Gulf Coast region, 9% located in the West Coast, and 6% in the East Coast.
