Malaysian experts are partnering Nigeria stakeholders to increase production of oil palm estimated at 1.4 million metric tonnes (MT) yearly.

CHICAGO, Dec 18 (Reuters) -Chicago Board of Trade soybean futures ended higher on Monday as good export demand and expectations for higher soy product export taxes in Argentina offset market pressure from recent beneficial rains in dry areas of Brazil.

Growth in the export of soyabean meal and rapeseed meal has helped India register a 21.04 per cent increase in the overall export of oilmeals during April-November of the current financial year.

A few years back, the European Union (EU) agreed that palm oil, mainly from Indonesia and Malaysia, should not be allowed to enter Europe’s market, which was detected as having environmental effects, ranging from pollution to illegal logging. EU enacted its regulation by signing the European Union Deforestation-Free Regulations (EUDR). In addition, some statements also said that Indonesia is a ‘killer.’

MUMBAI, Dec 15 (Reuters) - India's palm oil imports in November jumped nearly 23% from the previous month to hit their highest in three months as refiners preferred the tropical oil over rival soyoil and sunflower oil due to steep discounts, a leading trade body said on Friday.

The Narendra Modi government launched the National Mission on Edible Oils-Oil Palm (NMEO-OP) in August 2021, allocating Rs 11,040 crore with the objective of encouraging domestic oilseeds production and increasing the area under oil palm cultivation aggressively across various states in India in order to reduce dependence on imports of edible oils.

Since 2015, Malaysia has taken a global leadership role in continuously implementing sustainable oil palm cultivation and palm oil process innovations.

KUALA LUMPUR: Growing oil palms and harvesting their fruits is a major source of income for 500,000 smallholders in Malaysia who depend solely on the commodity for their livelihoods, according to the Datametrics Research and Information Centre (DARE).

Kuala Lumpur Kepong Bhd (KLK) and its subsidiary, KLK Plantations and Trading Pte Ltd, are set to acquire over 90% stakes in two Indonesian oil palm companies, PT Satu Sembilan Delapan (SSD) and PT Tekukur Indah (TI), for a total of RM276.55 million.
