Boom in vegetable oil exports from Nepal raises concerns about trade manipulation

07/08/2025 (UkrAgroConsult) - Nepal’s exports grew by 72.71% in the 10 months of the current fiscal year to mid-May, reaching USD 1.55 billion (NPR 217.91 billion), largely due to re-exports of soybean, sunflower and palm oils, which the country imports because its own production does not even cover domestic demand. Excluding oils, exports amounted to USD 0.91 billion, indicating their significant impact. Exports of soybean oil increased 90-fold to USD 0.56 billion (374,086 tonnes), while imports of crude soybean oil amounted to USD 0.58 billion (539,549 tonnes) from Argentina, Brazil, Ukraine and other countries.

Soybeans Close Lower on Wednesday

06/08/2025 (Barchart) - Soybean futures closed with losses of 6 to 7 ½ cents across the front months on Wednesday. The cmdtyView national average Cash Bean price was down 6 cents at $9.27 1/2. Soymeal futures were under pressure on Wednesday, down $2.10 to $4.40. Soy Oil futures were mixed, down 5 to 28 points higher. There were 518 delivery notices for August soybean meal overnight, with none issued for soybeans and soybean oil.

Malaysian palm oil futures higher

06/08/2025 (Reuters), Kuala Lumpur - Malaysian palm oil futures settled higher on Tuesday, supported by bargain buying and stronger Dalian palm olein, while traders expect improved export data for the first half of August. The benchmark palm oil contract for October delivery on the Bursa Malaysia Derivatives Exchange was up 103 ringgit, or 2.46%, at 4,290 ringgit ($1,015.38) a metric ton at the close.
