New Straits Times - Dec 14 6:51 PM - A SHORTAGE of workers could frustratethe State's target to develop one million hectares of land into oil palmplantations by 2010.Land Development Minister Datuk Seri Dr James Masing said oil palmproduction could also be affected if there is not enough labour.

December 15 2004 - CONSTRUCTION company Ahmad Zaki Resources Bhd (AZRB) isdiversifying into oil palm plantation following its acquisition of 95 percent equity in PT Ichtiar Gusti Pudi IGP for 17 billion rupiah (100 rupiah= RM0.04).

12/15/2004 Renewable Fuel News - Biodiesel used in existing dieselvehicles not fitted with aftertreatment devices results in "similar"carbon monoxide (CO) and nitrogen oxides (NOx) emissions levels whencompared to conventional diesel fuel, but particulate matter (PM)emissions "are clearly raised" when making the same comparison. That'saccording to results of a biodiesel test carried out by Japan's NationalTraffic Safety and Environment Laboratory, which was released by theMinistry of Environment.

Malaysia's KL Kepong makes offer for Ladang shares

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 14 (Reuters) - Kuala Lumpur Kepong Bhd , one ofMalaysia's biggest palm oil producers, made a mandatory offer on Tuesdayfor shares of a rival producer at 2.85 ringgit ($0.75) each.KL Kepong said the offer for shares of Ladang Perbadanan-Fima Bhd cameafter the company raised its stake in Ladang to 46 percent from 15.4percent previously, activating a 33-percent trigger.
