19/06/2024 (Agro Spectrum) - The edible oil market has witnessed a price increase in recent months, driven by multiple global factors. These factors have caused fluctuations in global edible oil markets, leading to price hikes of Rs 50 to 70 per 10 kg in most edible oils. Currently, cottonseed oil stands at Rs 975 per 10 kg, up from Rs 930 per 10 kg three months ago. Soybean oil is now priced at Rs 970 per 10 kg, compared to Rs 910 per 10 kg, and rice bran oil has risen to Rs 950 per 10 kg from Rs 890 per 10 kg over the same period. Similarly, sunflower oil is priced at Rs 980 per 10 kg, up from Rs 900 three months ago and mustard oil stands at Rs 1190 per 10 kg, increased from Rs 1060 per 10 kg three months ago.

The facility, which utilizes Topose’s HydroFlex technology, is also expected to produce sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) in the future.

Nutritionists also advocate that the percentage of energy from fats should not exceed 10 per cent. Too much is also unhealthy. The global demand for edible fats has been growing around 3 per cent yearly, driven by both population growth and the changing diet of the people.

19/06/2024 (Deccan Chronicle), Chennai - State Minister for Food and Civil Supplies R Sakkarapai denied allegations by opposition party leaders that the government had not distributed toor dal and palm oil to family card holders for the months of May and June and assured that it would be supplied to all card holders. Responding the allegations made by Leader of the Opposition Edappadi K Palaniswami and BJP State President K Annamalai on Tuesday, Sakkarapani said that for the May quota of 1,89,89,000 kg of toor dal, 1,37,79.00 kg of had been supplied to card holders.
