05/05/2014 (Borneo Post) - Malaysian palm oil futures fell 2.56 per cent for the week on Friday, following weak comparative vegetable oils although traders expected prices to rebound soon due to high seasonal demand. Futures crude palm oil (FCPO) settled at 2,592 which was down 68 points from 2,660 last Friday. Despite the lack of one day trading due to Labour Day, volume still managed to increase to 135,636 contracts from 134,193 contracts totalled last week. Moreover, open interest based on Thursday increased to 188,981 contracts from 187,970 contracts last Thursday.

"Business was slow, partly because of the weaker prices, which kept buyers on the defence hoping that they will ease further. The market was also lacklustre because of limited participation as many players had bridged between May Day on Thursday and the weekend," one broker said.

03/05/2014 (Business Recorder) - A cargo volume of 153,329 tonnes comprising 113,324 tonnes of import cargo and 40,005 tonnes of export cargo inclusive 6,025 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Thursday. The total import cargo of 113,324 tonnes includes 34,847 tonnes of furnace oil; 13,500 tonnes of palm oil; 3,777 tonnes of coke and 61,200 tonnes of containerised cargo.
