13/01/2016 (Reuters) - Malaysian palm oil futures fell on Tuesday as global crude oil prices tumbled to 12-year lows this week, with declining production data from a government body doing little to boost market sentiment.

13/01/2016 (Mongabay) - Oil palm plantations continue to grow in Aceh, Indonesia’s westernmost province on the island of Sumatra. Last March they covered 393,270 hectares of land, nearly 7 percent of Aceh’s total area, according to the Indonesian Forum for the Environment (Walhi), an NGO. The figures are based on government data, Walhi said.

They feel that there is around Rs 4,000 difference between the price offered to them and the expenditure they incur on every fresh fruit bunch (FFB). The crop that was introduced in the State in 1990 with the government offering Rs 23,000 subsidy for hectare is now spread over 1.45 lakh hectares in all the 13 districts.
