Activities at Karachi and Qasim Ports

27/06/2014 (Business Recorder) - The Karachi Port handled 151,488 tonnes of cargo comprising 118,609 tonnes of import cargo and 32,879 tonnes of export cargo including 5,001 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday. The total import cargo of 118,609 tonnes comprised of 37,628 tonnes of containerised cargo; 49,385 tonnes of bulk cargo: 40,866 tonnes of coal; 8,519 tonnes of DAP and 31,596 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

Deficient Monsoon Heats up Indigenous Oils

27/06/2014 (Hindu Business Line) - The sentiment in the edible oils market turned weak tracking lower closing of Malaysian palm oil and domestic soya oil futures amidst slack physical demand. However, delay and deficit in monsoon pushed up indigenous oils such as groundnut, cotton and rapeseed oil by â‚¹10, â‚¹1 and â‚¹5 for 10 kg each. During the day, resellers offloaded merely 80-100 tonnes of palmolein at â‚¹580-582. Liberty quoted palmolein at â‚¹587and super palmolein â‚¹604 for July 20, soyabean refined oil â‚¹668. Ruchi was quoting palmolein at â‚¹583, soyabean refined oil â‚¹662 for July, sunflower refined oil â‚¹657 for July. Allanaâ€™s palmolein rates were â‚¹586 and soyabean refined oil â‚¹662 for July and sunflower refined oil â‚¹657 . In Saurashtra, groundnut oil Telia tin jumped further by â‚¹35 to â‚¹1,170 and loose (10 kg) increased by â‚¹30 to â‚¹750.
