29/11/2012 (Daily Mirror) - In recent years, many countries around the world have been tapping renewable resources to secure stable sources of energy. This tendency has been spurred by high fossil fuel prices, rising demand for energy and increasing concerns about the implications of fossil fuels on global climate (FAO). The European Union (EU) and the United States of America (USA) are currently the leading markets for and producers of biofuels, but Brazil and the emergent economies of China and India are not far behind. The growth in biofuels has been achieved primarily by introducing fuel-blending obligations and government subsidies (FAO).

29/11/2012 (The Star) - Malaysian palm oil futures eased on Wednesday, dropping for a second straight session on concerns the U.S. fiscal woes could hamper global economic growth and commodity demand. Prices touched their highest in almost one week on Tuesday as a Greek debt deal provided brief comfort for investors, but the lack of progress in U.S. budget talks and speculation that Malaysian palm oil inventory level could hit a record high this month kept prices in a tight range.
