Global shortage of edible oils due to a slew of factors likely to keep prices firm

KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 7): Kuala Lumpur Kepong Bhd's (KLK) major shareholder Batu Kawan Bhd's share price climbed to a record high on Thursday (Oct 7) after rising as much as RM1.18 or 5.57% to RM22.38 as crude palm oil (CPO) prices at above RM5,000 a tonne fuel investor interest in shares of the plantation group.

PARIS (Reuters) -World food prices rose for a second consecutive month in September to reach a 10-year peak, driven by gains for cereals and vegetable oils, the United Nations food agency said on Thursday.

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia has successfully conducted test flights on the Bandung-Jakarta route using bioavtur, a jet fuel derived partially from palm oil, Energy and Mineral Resource Minister Arifin Tasrif said in a statement released here on Wednesday. Indonesia has made history with the test flights, which were conducted from Bandung in West Java to Jakarta on bioavtur-powered CN-235-220 Flying Test Bed (FTB) aircraft, the minister remarked.

KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 6): The government intends to continue with its much delayed effort to implement the B20 biodiesel programme nationwide, said Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister Datuk Zuraida Kamaruddin.
