Indonesia and Malaysia have agreed to step up efforts to fight discrimination against palm oil and protect the industry by sending a mission to the European Union, which has issued a new policy to block the sale of palm oil.

Malaysia's palm oil inventories at the end of January rose for the first time in three months, as a surge in imports helped cushion a fall in production and exports, data from the nation's palm oil board showed on Friday.

With a sharp fall in retail prices of edible oils over the last six months in line with the global trend, the government is considering withdrawing the import duty concessions on these products.
