Germany's Cognis shifts oleochem unit to Malaysia
KUALA LUMPUR/FRANKFURT, July 13 (Reuters) - German specialty chemicalsfirm Cognis is transferring its oleochemicals business to an existingjoint venture with Malaysian palm oil maker Golden Hope Plantations , thecompanies said on Wednesday.A source close to the deal said the Malaysian company will invest about200 million ringgit ($52.6 million) into the expanded joint venture. ACognis spokeswoman said financial details would not be released.

Coconut imports in the mentioned periodincreased by 2.2 times making up 12,300 tonnes. Pal kernel oil importsincreased by 16.7 times compared to April and made 3,800 tonnes.
