03/04/2013 (HIndu Business Line) - Bearish Malaysian palm oil futures dragged palmolien by Rs 5 for 10 kg in local market on Monday. Improved arrivals of mustard seed in producing centres pulled down rapeseed oil by Rs 2. Cotton refined oil inched up by Rs 4. Groundnut, soyabean and sunflower oil ruled unchanged. The volume was negligible as resellers were offered palmolein at lower price.

Global Palm Oil Demand To Rise on Attractive Price: Oil World
03/04/2013 (Business Recorder) - Global palm oil demand is set to rise in coming months because of attractive prices and plentiful supplies compared to rival edible oils such as soyaoil, Hamburg-based oilseeds analysts Oil World said on Tuesday. Global October 2012-September 2013 palm oil imports are likely to rise to 43.19 million tonnes from 40.31 million tonnes in the same year ago period, Oil World estimated in a report.

02/04/2013 (Business Standard) - In step with an economy becoming richer, setting off changes in lifestyle and diet patterns, the use of edible oils per head rises. The advance estimate of national income by the Central Statistics Office for 2012-13 puts per capita income at Rs 68,747, a rise of 11.7 per cent over the previous year. Along with this progress, per capita availability of edible oils rose to 14.5 kg in 2010-11 from 5.8 kg in 1992-93. However, there is not much room for celebration over this.
