Russia. Farmers' Sales of Sunseed to Crushers Remain Low

18/02/2016 (UkrAgroConsult) - Domestic prices for oilseeds in Russia remained unchanged. On the EXW basis prices for sunflower seed are announced in average in the range of RUB 26500-27500/ MT. Ruble strengthening and stabilization of export prices for sunoil triggered stabilization of domestic sunflower seed market. However, the pace of farmers’ sales of seeds to the plants remains quite low.

Weak Cues Hold Edible Oils Flat

17/02/2016 (Hindu Business Line) - Edible oils market ruled flat on back of normal volume amid weak overseas futures. Malaysian palm oil futures closed lower as their exports declined during February 1-15. Sources said demand at higher level eased. Local refineries kept their rates unchanged but profit booking kept volume thin and isolated. Ruchi’s rates: palmolein ₹533, soyabean refined oil ₹628, sunflower refined oil ₹760.

Russia Will Impose Excise Duty on Palm Oil

17/02/2016 (UkrAgroConsult) - The Russian government will expand the list of excisable goods to increase revenues in budget. Such "harmful" products will be included - palm oil, fizzy drinks and so on. Goods with high fat and sugar content may be also included to the list.

SPO Introduces Voluntary Advanced Add-On Criteria for Sustainable Palm Oil

17/02/2016 (Sustainable Brands) - The Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) has released new voluntary criteria that expand on its existing Principles & Criteria (P&C) for sustainable palm oil production. To be eligible for the add-on certification, called RSPO NEXT, RSPO members must have at least 60 percent of their plantations in compliance with the core RSPO P&C requirements, have company-wide policies that exceed current RSPO P&C requirements, and must commit to implementing the stricter RSPO NEXT policies across all of their plantations.
