TSH Resources Core Profit Before Tax up 63%

25/05/2017 (The Star) - TSH Resources Bhd saw its core profit before tax (PBT) for the first quarter ended March 31, 2017 jump 63% year-on-year to RM41.1mil, mainly due to higher average crude palm oil (CPO) prices and higher fresh fruit brunch (FFB) production as well as higher profit contribution from an associate company.

Crude palm oil futures fall 0.60% on profit-booking

May 23, 2017 (Economic Times) - NEW DELHI: Crude palm oil prices fell 0.60 per cent to Rs 511.80 per 10 kg in futures trade today as speculators booked profits at prevailing higher levels amid fall in demand at the spot market. Sufficient stocks position following increased supplies from the producing belts too fuelled the downtrend. At the Multi Commodity Exchange, crude palm oil for delivery in June eased by Rs 3.10, or 0.60 per cent, to Rs 511.80 per 10 kg, in a business turnover of 271 lots. On similar lines, the oil for delivery this month traded lower by Rs 2.50, or 0.47 per cent, to Rs 522.70 per 10 kg in 174 lots. Analysts said besides profit-booking by speculators at prevailing higher levels, fall in demand at the spot market, mainly weighed on crude palm oil prices.

Palm oil producers report better numbers, but improvements may not be sustainable

SINGAPORE (May 23): Palm oil counters have been among the standout performers in this quarterâ€™s earnings season. All but one have reported stronger revenue and earnings growth in the quarter ended March, based on a list of six companies compiled by The Edge Singapore as at May 17. The exception was Golden Agri-Resources, which posted a 60.1% decline in earnings to US$37.6 million ($52.2 million) on higher expenses and foreign exchange losses. Nevertheless, its revenue improved 37% to US$2.1 billion from US$1.5 billion a year ago. Meanwhile, First Resources was the best performer. Its earnings surged 807% to US$48.5 million from US$5.3 million a year ago. Revenue increased 71.6% to US$194.1 million.

European vegoils-Palm oil easier on growing output forecasts

ROTTERDAM, May 23 (Reuters) - Palm oil on the European vegetable oils market eased on Tuesday on forecasts for increasing output and weaker Malaysian palm oil futures because of a stronger ringgit currency. Asking prices for palm oil were between unchanged and $12.50 a tonne down after Malaysian palm oil futures closed between 23 and 45 ringgit a tonne lower.
