Activity At Karachi And Qasim Ports

13/01/2012 (Business Recorder) - The Karachi Port handled 119,837 tonnes of cargo comprising 91,527 tonnes of import cargo and 28,310 tonnes of export cargo including 4,179 loaded & empty containers during last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Thursday.

The total import cargo of 91,527 tonnes comprised of 25,106 tonnes of containerised cargo; 584 tonne of general cargo; 5,989 tonnes of bulk cargo: 1,741 tonnes of palm kernal; 1,518 tonnes of wheat; 2,000 tonnes of coal and 59,848 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargo of 28,310 tonnes comprised of 25,721 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,252 tonnes of general cargo and 1,337 tonnes of cement.

Four ships namely Hanjin Monaco, Bravo, Lodestar Genesis and Ashahda with two container ships and two oil tankers respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

Eight vessels viz Greenwich Bridge, APL Brisbane, APL Mirqab, SE Pacific, Victory, Glenda Melody, Star Sea Bridge and Liberty Pride with three container ships, two general cargo ships, one oil tanker, one bulk cargo ship and one cars carrier respectively are currently at the berths.

Three ships namely Greenwich Bridge, APL Mirqab and Victory with two container ship and one general cargo ship respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday, while three ship namely Glenda Melody, Rio Bravo and Fade-1 one oil tanker, one container ship and one wheat carrier are expected to sail on Friday.

Four vessels viz Rio Bravo, YM Fuzhou, Navig 8 Loucas and MT Quetta carrying two container ships, one mogas ship and one crude oil tanker respectively due to arrive on Thursday, while six vessels viz Kota Akbar, OEL Trust, APL Guangzhou, YM Taichung, Patriotic and Jin Fu carrying four container ships, one chemicals carrier and one coal carrier respectively are due to arrive on Friday.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 28,919 tonnes, comprising 17,920 tonnes of import cargo and 10,999 tonnes of export cargo inclusive 1,101 loaded & empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during last 24 hours on Thursday.

The total import cargo of 17,920 tonnes includes 150 tonnes of LPG; 3,200 tonnes of palm oil; 2,999 tonnes of chemicals and 11,571 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 10,999 tonnes includes 1,651 tonnes of cement and 9,348 tonnes of containerised cargo.

Three ships namely CV OOCL San Francisco, MT Purwati and MT Bunga Melati-5 with containers and edible oil sailed out to sea on Thursday morning.

A total number of five vessels CV OOCL San Francisco, MV Hiba Al-Noor-B, MT Golden Ambrasia, MT Purwati and MT Bunga Melati-5 are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, cement, palm oil and chemicals respectively during last 24 hours.

As many as eleven ships namely CMA CGM Puget, Alexander, Safmarine Nagami, Nysted Maersk, Akaki, Al-Buhaira, Chemroad Lily, Bunga Kantan Dua, Ocean Eagle, Patriotic and Fair Chem Filly with four container ships, two furnace oil tankers, two palm oil tankers, one coal carrier, one chemical carrier and one phosphoric acid ship are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim.

A total number of six vessels viz CV CMA CGM Puget, CV Safmarine Nagami, Nysted Maersk, Nysted Maersk, MT Chemroad Lily, MT Patriotic and MV Ocean Eagle carrying containers, palm oil, chemicals and coal are expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Liquid Cargo Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal and Iron Ore & Coal Berth respectively on Thursday.

Two container vessels viz CV MSC Anafi and CV Maersk Carolina are due to arrive at Port Qasim on Friday.
