Activity At Karachi And Qasim Ports

12/01/2012 (Business Recorder) - The Karachi Port handled 94,010 tonnes of cargo comprising 67,669 tonnes of import cargo and 26,341 tonnes of export cargo including 4,298 loaded & empty containers during last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Wednesday.

The total import cargo of 67,669 tonnes comprised of 30,710 tonnes of containerised cargo; 675 tonne of general cargo; 3,385 tonnes of bulk cargo: 1,548 tonnes of palm kernal; 737 tonnes of wheat; 1,100 tonnes of sulphur and 32,899 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargo of 26,341 tonnes comprised of 23,205 tonnes of containerised cargo; 914 tonnes of general cargo and 2,222 tonnes of cement.

Three ships namely APL Agate, Cape Endurance and Alliance Norfolk with one container ship, one oil tanker and one vehicles carrier respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

Six vessels viz Bravo, APL Agate, Fade-1, Sai Sunrise, Ashahda and Alliance Norfolk with two container ships, two bulk cargo ships, one oil tanker and one vehicles carrier respectively are currently at the berths.

Two ships namely Bravo and Ashahda with one container ship and one oil tanker respectively sailed out to sea on Wednesday.

Three vessels viz Liberty Pride, SE Pacific and Star Sea Bridge carrying two vehicle carriers and one coal carrier respectively due to arrive on Wednesday, while seven vessels viz Patriotic, Purwati, Navig 8 Loucas, MT Quetta, Rio Bravo, YM Fuzhou and Victory carrying two chemical carriers, one mogas ship, one crude oil tanker, two container ships and one steel coil carrier respectively are due to arrive on Thursday.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 118,051 tonnes, comprising 64,832 tonnes of import cargo and 53,219 tonnes of export cargo inclusive 4,278 loaded & empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during last 24 hours on Wednesday.

The total import cargo of 64,832 tonnes includes 23,579 tonnes of furnace oil; 3,180 tonnes of LPG; 8,699 tonnes of palm oil and 29,374 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 53,219 tonnes includes 1,311 tonnes of cement and 51,908 tonnes of containerised cargo.

Two ships namely CV CMA CGM Mozart and MT Fair Spirit with containers and edible oil sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning, while two more ships namely MT Rio Gracia and CV Asir are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of six vessels CV CMA CGM Mozart, CV Asir, MV Hiba Al-Noor-B, Bunga Melati-5, MT Rio Gracia and MT Fair Spirit are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, cement, palm oil, chemicals and furnace oil respectively during last 24 hours.

As many as seven ships namely OOCL San Francisco, Nysted Maersk, Akaki, Al-Buhaira, Chemroad Lily, Purwati and Golden Ambrasia with two container ships, two furnace oil tankers, one palm oil tanker and two chemical carriers are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim.

A total number of three vessels viz CV OOCL San Francisco, MT Purwati and MT Golden Ambrasia carrying containers and chemicals are expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and Engro Vopak Terminal respectively on Wednesday.

Two ships namely CV Alexander and MV Ocean Eagle due to arrive on Wednesday, while three container ships namely CV CMA CGM Puget, CV Safmore Nagami and CV Nysted Maersk are due to arrive on Thursday.

As many as two container vessels viz CV MSC Anafi and CV Maersk Carolina are also expected to arrive at Port Qasim.
