JAKARTA, March 22 Asia Pulse - India promised to periodically adjust itsimport duty on palm oil to the international price, Agriculture MinisterAnton Apriyantono said.

Indonesia has protested the Indian decision last month to raise the importduty on crude palm oil (CPO) to 80 per cent from 65 per cent.

Anton said the Indian government told him that it was forced to raise theimport duty to protect Indian farmers and the edible oil processingindustry.

India is one of the largest buyers of Indonesian CPO.

India accounts for 66.24 per cent of CPO imports from Indonesia andMalaysia accounts for 31.23 per cent.
