Activity At Karachi and Qasim Ports
20/12/2011 (Business Recorder) - The Karachi Port handled 275,410 tonnes of cargo comprising 156,650 tonnes of import cargo and 118,760 tonnes of export cargo including 6,803 loaded & empty containers during last 48 hours ended at 0700 hours on Monday.
The total import cargo of 156,650 tonnes comprised of 82,048 tonnes of containerised cargo; 784 tonne of general cargo; 7,818 tonnes of bulk cargo: 2,382 tonnes of palm kernel expeller; 5,436 tonnes of seeds and 66,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 118,760 tonnes comprised of 76,454 tonnes of containerised cargo; 9,399 tonnes of general cargo; 6,362 tonnes of cement and 26,545 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
Eleven ships namely Emirates Ganges, APL Guangzhou, YM Asia, Kota Akbar, YM Fuzhou, Northern Valence, Abtin-1, Leonor, Grand Duke, Nadeem and Morning Express with seven container ships, one general cargo ship, one vehicles carrier, one cement carrier and one oil tanker respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
Ten vessels viz YM Asia, Abtin-1, Northern Valence, Wan Hai-605, MOL Wind, Positao, Olivia, MT Karachi, Navig8 Loucas and Grand Duke with seven container ships, two oil tankers and one vehicles carrier respectively are currently at the berths.
Four ships namely Wan Hai-605, MOL Wind, Hoang Anh27 and Navig8 Loucas with two container ships, one general cargo ship and one oil tanker sailed out to sea on Monday, while four ships namely Hyundai General, Positao, Olivia, and Mandarin Trader carrying three container ships and talcum powder carrier respectively are expected to sail on Tuesday.
Four vessels viz Hanjin Durban, Uacc Sound, Prem Divya and Irini with one container ship, one mogas carrier, one crude oil tanker and one coal carrier respectively due to arrive on Monday, while five vessels viz Al-Ihsaa, President Adams, Tamarita, Cathrina and HR Recommendation carrying two container ships, one coal carrier, one cement carrier and one general cargo ship respectively are due to arrive on Tuesday.
PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 83,194 tonnes, comprising 67,196 tonnes of import cargo and 15,998 tonnes of export cargo inclusive 1,327 loaded & empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during last 24 hours on Monday.
The total import cargo of 67,196 tonnes includes 42,756 tonnes of diesel oil; 4,321 tonnes of palm oil; 4,448 tonnes of canola seeds; 6,577 tonnes of phosphoric acid; 400 tonnes of chemicals and 8,694 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 15,998 tonnes includes 2,698 tonnes of rice and 13,300 tonnes of containerised cargo.
Two ships namely CV Maersk Missouri and MT Al-Salam-II sailed out to sea on Monday morning, while another ship namely MT Chem Pegasus is expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of six vessels CV Maersk Missouri, MV Afamia, MV Paiute, MT Chem Pegasus, Bow Jubail and MT Al-Salam-II are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, rice, canola seeds, palm oil, phosphoric acid and diesel oil respectively during last 24 hours.
As many as two ships namely MT Quetta and Liquid Platinum with diesel oil and palm oil respectively are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim.
A total number of two vessels viz MT Quetta and Liquid Platinum with diesel oil and palm oil respectively are expected to take berths at Liquid Cargo Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Monday.
Two container ships namely CV Maersk Kolkata and CV Hanjin Elizabeth are due to arrive on Tuesday.
As many as two containers vessels viz CV CMA CGM Chopan and CV Izumo are also expected to arrive at Port Qasim.
