PQ Handles 54,770 Tons of Cargo
07/11/2011 (The News International) - The Port Qasim Authority said on Saturday that 54,770 tons of cargo consisting of 35,459 tons of imports and 19311 tons of exports was loaded and unloaded at the Port Qasim (PQ) during the last 24 hours.
Berth occupancy was 43 percent at the port where six ships were docked to load and unload containers, palm oil, phosphoric acid, and canola seed, it said. Three ships left the port on Friday and one lifted anchor on Saturday. Two vessels arrived on Saturday, while a palm oil carrier, a furnace oil carrier, a container vessel, and a cargo vessel carrying sunflower seeds were waiting at the outer anchorage of the port, the port authority said.
