21/10/2011 (Jakarta Post) - Indonesian consul general to Dubai Mansyur Pangeran is escorting five business delegations from Dubai to Indonesia, including a delegation of 30 top officers from 20 United Arab Emirates (UAE)-based sharia banks.

There are also a delegation of tire makers and a delegation of crude palm oil (CPO) refinery industry representatives, among others.

All the UAE businesspeople arrived in Jakarta on Wednesday and will be here until Oct. 28, exploring opportunities to expand their businesses to Indonesia, Indonesian Consulate General in Dubai secretary Adiguna Wijaya said Thursday as quoted by Antara state news wire.

He added that the sharia banking delegation, comprising CEOs, executive vice presidents, managing directors and general managers from 20 UAE sharia banks, would explore the possibility of establishing partnerships to develop sharia banking in Indonesia.

Several UAE tire makers, meanwhile, are planning to invest US$90 million to build a tire factory in Cikarang or Karawang in West Java, while members of the CPO business delegation is planning to build a CPO refinery in Riau, worth $100 million.

The business delegations are also expected to attend the opening of Trade Expo Indonesia 2011 at Jakarta Fair Ground in Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, on Thursday.

They also have been invited to meet with top Bank Indonesia and Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) officials, as well as representatives of local banks including Mandiri and BNI, and several financial institution associations.
