Shipping Activity at Port Qasim
18/10/2011 (Business Recorder) - Shipping activity remained active at the Port Qasim where three ships carrying containers, palm oil and diesel oil were arranged berthing at Qasim International Container Terminal, Liquid Cargo Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Sunday October 16.
Meanwhile three more ships scheduled to load/offload cement, palm oil and furnace oil also arrived at outer anchorage of Port Qasim during last 24 hours.
Berth occupancy was managed at the Port at 54% on Sunday where a total of eight ships namely C.V Maersk Georgia, M.V Opal- Il, M.V Sargodha, M.V Silver Star, M.V Lord Byron, M.T Golden Ambrosia, M.T SC Belhai and M.T Al-Salam-II are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, cement, rice, sunflower seeds, chemicals and diesel oil respectively during last 24 hours.
Cargo handling registered an upward trend at the Port where a cargo volume of 0.127 million tonnes, comprising 0.094 million tonnes imports and 0.033 million tonnes exports, inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 2,349 containers (TEUs) was handled during last 24 hours.
Two ships container Vessel Maersk Georgia and Chemicals carrier Golden Ambrosia sailed out to sea on Monday morning, while an oil tanker Al-Salam-II is expected to sail on same day afternoon.
Two ships M.T Sea Sky and M.T Bum Young carrying furnace oil and chemicals are expected to take berths at FOTCO and EVTL respectively on Monday, October 17, while two more container vessels Hanjin Elizabeth and CMA CGM Mozart are due to arrive at Port Qasim on Tuesday, October 18.
