17/06/2011 (Borneo Post) - BioFusion Sdn Bhd walked away with RM200,000 cash prize for winning 2011 Best Innovation in Biotechnology and Agro Technology in the country.

The annual event, from June 7- 9, is organised by SME Corporation Malaysia (SME Corp. Malaysia) and the Ministry of International Trade and Industry, with the theme ‘Pioneering Business Transformation through Innovation.’

Now in its second year running, the SME Innovation Showcase provides a platform for SMEs not only to showcase their capabilities, but also opportunities for networking.

The event was also the stage for the inaugural SME Innovation Award 2011, which is the premier award to acknowledge and recognise the most innovative SME for the year.

BioFusion has been partnering with JQ Biotech, both part of Woodman Group of Companies, to manufacture bio-fertilizer for oil palm application to improve soil fertility via microbes and increase yield with greater bunch quantity and size.

BioFusion’s managing director, Dr Suhaimi Masduki, along with Woodman’s managing director, Datuk Sri Law Kiu Kiong, received the award from Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri MuhyiddinYassin during the launch of SMIDEX 2011: SME Innovation Showcase on June 7, 2011 in Kuala Lumpur.

Deputy International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Mukhriz Tun Mahathir, who was also present, A total of 37 companies out of 169 companies were successfully certified for the SME Innovation Awards based on online assessment and audit of products and services using the Koreanbased 1-InnoCERT Assessment Model and BioFusion is one of them.
