Pome Zero Discharge System To Be Showcased At MPOB Seminar
01/06/2011 (Bernama) - A palm oil mill effluent (POME) zero discharge system will be showcased at the two-day "Biogas and Palm Oil Mill Effluent" seminar, beginning June 6, in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.
The state-of-the-art technology is a concerted collaboration by Ronser
Bio-Tech Sdn Bhd, the Malaysian Palm Oil Board and the Shanghai Jiaotong University of China.
The three parties entered into a five-year research and development collaboration agreement in 2009 to develop, promote and commercialise the system.
Ronser Deputy Chairman Woo Min Fong said the industry has been waiting for such a system to treat high-organic effluent discharged by palm oil mills.
"It does not discharge any green house gas or waste water into the environment and biogas is captured for the generation of electricity," he said in a statement Wednesday.
