27/05/2011 (Bernama) - IJM Corp Bhd reported a 17.1 per cent increase in its pre-tax profit of RM676.567 million for the financial year-ended March 31, 2011, from RM578.024 million, registered in 2010.

The profit was achieved over a reduced revenue of RM3.720 billion against RM4.013 billion, previously, it said in a filing to Bursa Malaysia.

The better profits was due to higher margins achieved by the group's property and plantation division, higher net foreign exchange translation gains and a one-off capital gain from the disposal of a subsidiary.

Its property division was expected to sustain its performance in the coming year, on the back of strong unbilled sales in excess of RM1 billion, while its construction division was anticipated to improve as order book replenishment prospects remained encouraging.

In the meantime, the recovery in fresh fruit bunch production and current high crude palm oil prices are expected to augur well for its plantation division.

IJM Corp expects to achieve a satisfactory performance for the coming financial year.
