India-Malaysia Joint Commission Meeting on Tuesday

03/05/2011 (IBNLive.com) - The meeting was initiated through the Joint Commission Establishment Agreement in 1992 aimed at further cementing bilateral relations. The Joint Commission meeting coordinates and monitors implementation of projects that were mutually agreed to by both countries to further enhance bilateral relations. The areas of cooperation that have been agreed upon in the previous Joint Commission meeting includes trade and investment, defence and security, science and technology, commodities such as palm oil and rubber, human resource development and Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement (DTAA). The convening of the fifth Malaysia-India Joint Commission meeting is a testimony to the commitment of both countries towards exploring new sphere of cooperation with the view of further strengthening and deepening of relations, as well as expanding the scope of cooperation between the two countries, a statement issued by Malaysia's Foreign Ministry said today.
