PQ shipping activity
08/12/2010 (Pakistan Observer), Karachi - Shipping activity remained active at the Port Qasim where a ship carrying diesel oil was berthed at FOTCO Terminal on Monday, December 6. Meanwhile five more ships carrying containers, cement, rice and palm oil also arrived at outer anchorage of Port Qasim during last 24 hours.
Berth occupancy was managed at the Port at Eighty Four percent on Monday where total eight ships namely MV Angeles, Maersk Montana, MSC Endurance, MV Wales II, BM Challenge, AI Soor II, SD Epos and Chemstar King are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, cement, rice, seeds, diesel oil and edIble oil respectively.
Cargo throughput during last 48 hours stood at 80,232 tonnes comprising 69,480 tonnes imports and 10,752 tonnes exports inclusive of 1,449 containerized cargo (TEUs) was handled at the Port. M.V AI Soor II and Chemstar King are expected to sail on Tuesday afternoon.
Five ships Abu Dhabi, Nedlloyed Mercator, Hanjin Los Angeles, Cape Egmont and Analipsy Lady carrying containers, furnace oil and edible oil respectively are expected to take berths at container Terminal, FOTCO Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Tuesday, December 7.
