18/02/2010 (Talking Retail) - Nature friendly breakfast cereal brand Jordans has today announced that it intends to use 100% Certified Sustainable Palm Oil (CSPO) in its products by the end of 2010.

As a natural food brand with 38 years heritage in making high quality natural cereals and cereal bars, Jordans uses a small quantity of blended rape seed oil and palm oil in some of its baked products as an alternative to artificial preservatives.

Where it is used, palm oil is clearly labelled as an ingredient and it is blended with rape seed oil to optimise the overall nutritional profile of the oil.

Despite the fact that Certified Sustainable Palm Oil is now more widely available in the UK, it has not been possible to purchase it in a blend with rape seed oil.

The process of blending the two oils together requires specialist equipment, which historically has only been available through palm oil processors that do not segregate sustainable from non-sustainable supply
