LATEST PALM OIL DEVELOPMENTS IN IRAN
15/05/2008 (MPOB Tehran) – For the period Jan-May 2008, Iran received a total of 158,000 tonnes of bulk palm oil, mostly Malaysian origin. GTC imported three lots 25,000; 20,000 and 25,000 tonnes; while MODALLAL took 2 lots of 10,000 tonnes each; BEHSHAR took 60,000 tonnes and others 8,000 tonnes in Flexi-packaging.
This augured well for Malaysian palm oil bulk exports to Iran, amounting to 250,000 tonnes last year.
Meanwhile, Bank Islam Malaysia (BIM) indicate that it is now ready to accept Iranian LC from two Iranian counterparts -Bank Melli and Bank Saderat Iran. In Addition, Ar-Rahji Bank in Dubai and its branch in Kuala Lumpur are now ready to accept LCs from the same Iranian Banks.
