Typically, food prices rise during this season, and vegetable prices are also on the rise. The supply has been affected by rainfall, which is evident in the pricing.

Mustard oil surpasses Rs 220 mark

In Uttar Pradesh, mustard is being sold for Rs 7,000 to Rs 7,500 per quintal in Sultanpur, Jaunpur, and surrounding districts. Farmers are hopeful that the price will reach Rs 8,000. Meanwhile, mustard oil retailers are currently offering it at Rs 220 per kilogram. This price hike has occurred in just one month.

According to the rates published by the Central Government’s Consumer Department, mustard oil is averaging Rs 197.25 nationwide today. A month ago, it was priced at Rs 194.15. Government data shows that last year, on August 15, 2025, mustard oil was priced at Rs 188.20. This indicates a clear price increase.

Peanut and palm oil prices are also on the rise

Not only mustard, but palm oil prices have also seen a significant increase compared to last year. On August 15th, the price of palm oil was Rs 149.57. A year ago, it was Rs 130.24. This reflects a Rs 20 increase compared to last year, which is about a 14% rise.

The price of sunflower oil has gone up by 19% compared to last year. Last year, on August 15th, it was priced at Rs 159, and today it stands at Rs 191.16. Peanut prices are also sharply increasing, with the latest rate at Rs 205.39. Last year, on this day, it was Rs 185.62, marking a 10% increase.
