New Straits Times (24/06/2026) - JAKARTA: Malaysian palm oil futures rebounded on Wednesday, taking cues from stronger rival oils on the Dalian and Chicago exchanges.

The benchmark palm oil contract for September delivery on the Bursa Malaysia Derivatives Exchange rose 0.67 per cent to RM4,688 (US$1,131.82) in early trade.

Dalian's most-active soyoil contract was up 0.42 per cent, while soyoil prices on the Chicago Board of Trade rose 0.30 per cent. The most-active palm oil contract on the Dalian was trading 0.03 per cent lower.

Palm oil tracks the price movements of rival edible oils, as it competes for a share of the global vegetable oils market.

Oil prices fell on Wednesday, extending this week's losses and trading near four-month lows hit in the previous session, on signs that more oil tankers stranded in the Gulf since the start of the Iran war are set to move out of the Strait of Hormuz.

Weaker crude oil futures make palm a less attractive option for biodiesel feedstock. Palm oil may retrace into a range of RM4,574 to RM4,606 per metric ton, Reuters technical analyst Wang Tao said.

Asian stocks were wobbly on Wednesday, a day after a global selloff in technology and semiconductor shares, with analysts cautioning about the risk of renewed volatility.
