7 arrested, RM2.6mil worth of crude palm oil seized in raid
New Straits Time (07/09/2025) - BATU PAHAT: Infantry police foiled an attempt to divert about RM2.6 million worth of crude palm oil (CPO) with the arrest of seven men in Kampung Parit Awang, in Yong Peng, here, on Aug 4.
The suspects were detained at 2.45pm by the Muar 6th Battalion General Operations Force (GOF) officers, assisted by the 5th Battalion GOF Simpang Renggam and the Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB) representatives.
Commanding officer Superintendent Shohaiami Ismail said police seized five tanker lorries used to illegally transfer the oil.
"Also confiscated were some 222,700kg of CPO, suction pumps, a generator set, IBC tanks and various other equipment," he said in a statement today.
The case, he said, has been referred to MPOB's Southern Region for further investigation under the Malaysian Palm Oil Board Act 1998 (Act 582).
Shohaiami added similar operations will be carried out to curb the misappropriation of national commodities.
"Such operations will continue to ensure transparency in the palm oil supply chain. We also urge the public to channel information on unlawful activities to the police," he said.
