06/08/2025 (The Edge Malaysia), Kuala Lumpur - The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) will summon the Malayan Edible Oil Manufacturers’ Association (MEOMA) as part of its investigation into the management of price controls and subsidised cooking oil.

At a press conference on Wednesday, PAC chairperson Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin said representatives from refineries and packaging companies will also be called to facilitate the committee’s examination of the cooking oil supply chain.

"Additionally, the PAC will be conducting working visits to these factories," she added.

Mas Ermieyati said the committee held proceedings on the subsidised cooking oil programme on Tuesday and Wednesday, which included testimonies from key individuals, including Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry secretary general Datuk Seri Mohd Sayuthi Bakar, as well as representatives from the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (Jakim) and the Home Ministry.

She stressed that the PAC remains committed to ensuring transparency, accountability, and the effective use of public funds in all aspects of government management.

Separately, Mas Ermieyati said the PAC also received a comprehensive briefing on government procurement processes from Treasury secretary general Datuk Johan Mahmood Merican on Monday.

The briefing covered procurement methods and procedures, the role of the approving authorities, and the implementation of open tenders through selected pre-qualification.

"It was aimed at helping PAC members better understand the structure and practices of government procurement involving various agencies, in line with the committee’s oversight responsibilities," she said.
