Fuji Oil Asia to build speciality oils and fats refinery in Malaysia
12/11/2024 (Oils & Fats International) - Japanese oils and fats company Fuji Oil Asia has signed an agreement with palm oil producer Johor Plantations Group (JPG) to build a speciality oils and fats refinery in Malaysia, The Star wrote.
Located in Kota Tinggi, the refinery was scheduled for completion by mid-2026, the 3 November report said.
“The project, with an initial development value of RM500M (US$115M), will be part of the Integrated Sustainable Palm Oil Complex in Pasir Logok, Kota Tinggi,” Onn Hafiz Ghazi, Chief Minister of the Malaysian state of Johor, said in a Facebook post on the day of the report.
As part of the agreement, Onn Hafiz led a delegation from the Johor government to visit Fuji Oil Holdings, the parent company of Fuji Oil Asia, in Osaka, Japan.
“The cooperation between Fuji Oil and Johor Plantations Group will benefit both parties in the food production and processing sector,” he said.
Fuji Oil Asia sells vegetable oils and fats, industrial chocolate, and emulsified and fermented ingredients for confectionery and bakery produced by the Fuji Oil Group.
The Fuji Oil Group has manufacturing sites in major countries in Asia.
Previously known as Johor Plantations Berhad/Mahamurni Plantations, JPG is active in the production of palm oil, palm kernels and bio-methane.
