13/09/2024 (Biodiesel Magazine) - The USDA reduced its forecast for soybean production in its latest monthly Crop Production report, released Sept. 12. Record highs, however, are expected for both soybean yields and soybean production for beans.

Soybean production for beans is currently forecast at a record high 4.59 billion bushels, down slightly from last month’s forecast but up 10% from 2023.

Based on conditions as of Sept. 1, yields are expected to average a record high 53.2 bushels per acre, unchanged from the previous forecast but up 2.6 bushels from 2023. If realized, the forecasted yields in Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Mississippi, New York and Texas will be record highs.

Total planted acres are currently estimated at 87.1 million acres, up 4% from last year. Area harvested for beans is forecast at 86.3 million acres, unchanged from the previous forecast, but up 5% from 2023.
