27/06/2024 (Selangor Journal), Kuala Lumpur - The Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB) will launch innovative technologies and services in conjunction with the Transfer of Technology (TOT) MPOB on July 4.

In a statement today, MPOB director-general Datuk Ahmad Parveez Ghulam Kadir said the technologies were produced thanks to research and development encompassing the upstream and downstream sectors of the palm oil sector.

He said the new launches are offered to industrialists and local companies, including micro, small and medium enterprises, for commercialisation.

“As a research agency in the palm oil industry, MPOB continues to be committed to exploring all aspects of technology that can be developed so that the country’s palm industry remains competitive on the global stage,” said Parveez.

The annual TOT MPOB is the agency’s main platform for stakeholders in the industry and local entrepreneurs to explore opportunities by commercialising technologies and formulations of palm oil-based food and non-food products.

The exhibition will highlight innovation in the sector and a space for interaction with researchers or inventors, as well as funding agencies for commercialisation according to the value chain and current needs of the palm oil industry.

At last year’s TOT MPOB, two new technologies were offered — True-to Type Version 2: High-Resolution Genotyping Platform for Parental Identification and palm-based mozzarella cheese analogue.

Entry to TOT MPOB is free and the agency urges visitors to interact with MPOB researchers at the exhibition and participate in the technology commercialisation sharing session.

The exhibition will be held at Tenara Hotel in Bangi.
