USDA: April Biodiesel Exports Down From Last Year, Biodiesel Imports Up
07/06/2024 (Biodiesel Magazine) - The U.S. exported 60,273.9 metric tons of biodiesel and biodiesel blends of B30 and greater in April, according to data released by the USDA Foreign Agricultural Service on June 6. Biodiesel imports were at 207,932.6 metric tons for the month.
The 60,273.9 metric tons of biodiesel exported in April was up when compared to the 45,891.8 metric tons of biodiesel exported the previous month, but down when compared to the 147,212.9 metric tons reported for April 2023.
The U.S. exported biodiesel to approximately six countries in April. Canada was the top destination for U.S. biodiesel exports at 54,368.8 metric tons, followed by Peru at 5,578.9 metric tons and Singapore at 243.4 metric tons.
The value of U.S. biodiesel exports was at $84.58 million in April, up from $65.75 million in March, but down from $266.39 million in April of last year.
Total U.S. biodiesel exports for the first four months of this year reached 153,423.7 metric tons at a value of $217.28 million, compared to 515,415.9 metric tons exported during the same period of last year at a value of $382.53 million.
The 2047,932.6 metric tons of biodiesel and biodiesel blends of B30 and greater imported in April was up when compared to both the 116,141.1 metric tons imported in March and the 134,326.1 metric tons imported in April 2023.
The U.S. imported biodiesel from approximately eight countries in April. Germany was the top supplier of biodiesel to the U.S. at 59,498.6 metric tons, followed by Spain at 55,217 metric tons, and Canada at 38,040 metric tons.
The value of U.S. biodiesel imports reached $289.11 million in April, up from $164.4 metric tons the previous month and $232.87million in April of last year.
Total U.S. biodiesel imports for the first four months of 2024 reached 671,275.4 metric tons at value of $942.7 million, compared to 437,092.7 metric tons imported during the same period of 2023 at a value of $970.28 million.,
