USDA: Biodiesel Exports At 17,217 Metric Tons In January, Imports At 167,714 Metric Tons
08/03/2024 (Biodiesel Magazine), The U.S. exported 17,217.2 metric tons of biodiesel and biodiesel blends of B30 or greater in January, according to data released by the USDA Foreign Agricultural Service on March 7. Imports of biodiesel blends of B30 and greater reached 167,713.7 metric tons for the month.
The 17,217.2 metric tons of biodiesel exported in in January was down when compared to the 55,131.8 metric tons exported the previous month, but up when compared to the 12,908.1 metric tons exported in January 2023.
The U.S. exported biodiesel to approximately six countries in January. Canada was the top destination for U.S. biodiesel exports at 12,227.9 metric tons, followed by Peru at 4,745.3 metric tons and Germany at 207.4 metric tons.
The value of U.S. biodiesel exports reached $24.45 million in January, down from $94.79 million in December, but up from $22.83 million in January of last year.
The 167,713.7 metric tons of biodiesel imported in January was up when compared to both the 158,044.1 metric tons imported in December and the 133,036.6 metric tons imported in January 2023.
The U.S. imported biodiesel from approximately eight countries in January. German was the main source of U.S. biodiesel imports at 50,077 metric tons, followed by Spain at 42,700.4 metric tons and Canada at 36,051 metric tons.
The value of U.S. biodiesel imports reached $243.91 million in January, up from $234.1 million in December, but down from $254.94 million in January of last year.
