15/08/2023 (Xinhua), Jakarta - Indonesia posted a trade surplus of 1.31 billion U.S. dollars in July, down from June's 3.45 billion dollars, the Statistics Indonesia BPS said on Tuesday.

"Indonesia's trade balance has recorded a surplus for the 39th consecutive month since May 2020," acting head of BPS Amalia Widyasanti told a press conference, adding that coal, crude palm oil and steel were the key commodities contributing to the July surplus.

Exports were valued at 20.88 billion dollars in July, up by 1.36 percent from June but down by 18.03 percent from July last year, while imports were valued at 19.5 billion dollars this month, up by 14.10 percent from June but down by 8.32 percent from July last year.

China was Indonesia's top non-oil and gas export destination from January to July this year, followed by the United States and Japan.
