Malaysia Asks Jakarta To Drop Plan For Border Area Plantation
30/12/05 JAKARTA, ( Asia Pulse) - The Indonesian government has been asked to forget about its plan to build a palm oil plantation in the Kalimantan-Malaysia border region, since these parts still have timber producing potential estimated at Rp237.8 trillion (US$23.5 billion).
"The plan to build a 1.8-ha oil palm estate in the Kalimantan-Malaysia border region should be abandoned," Elfian, the Greenomics executive director said here on Tuesday.
It was feared that inviting investors to open an oil palm estate would only benefit them, he added.
