14/11/05 Kota Kinabalu (Daily Express) The East Malaysia Planters Association (EMPA), in collaboration with the Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB), is organising a 5-City Seminar 2005 in Miri, Sibu, Keningau, Sandakan and Tawau on Nov 14, 16, 18, 21 and 23, respectively.

The seminar would cover core topics such as replanting and residue management, nutrient requirement of oil palm and management, pest and disease management, while specific topics tailored to the particular area such as soil and moisture conservation for Keningau would also be discussed.

Besides the seminar themed "Maximising Productivity", there would also be field visits to estates to observe the best practices carried out.

EMPA Chairman who is also Sawit Kinabalu Group Managing Director, Salim Mohammad, said EMPA had worked successfully with MPOB in organising a series of seminars covering many aspects for the benefit of plantation owners in Sabah and Sarawak.

Feedback from past seminars was also encouraging and he felt this reflected the desire of oil palm growers in East Malaysia to learn about this golden crop.

Those interested to attend any of the five seminars can contact the EMPA secretary at 089-223936.
