WORLD SUMFLOWER COMPLEX EXPORTS TO FAIL - OIL WORLD

HAMBURG, July 3 (Reuters) - Sunflower seed, oil and meal exports are seendeclining by just under one million tonnes during the Oct/Sept 2001/02season, Oil World said on Tuesday."Due to insufficient production as well as government action to curtailexports (in Russia and the Ukraine), world exports of sunflowerseed areseen plummeting by 0.7-0.8 million tonnes during Oct/Sept 2001/02,"Hamburg-based Oil World added.Oil World said it expected a slight recovery in Argentine exports ofseed to 200,000 tonnes on the assumption of an increase in production by500,000 tonnes in early 2002.But even should that materialise, the European Union is likely toenforce a reduction of 500,000 tonnes of sunflower imports, owing to alack of supplies in 2001/02, Oil World said.Argentina is the swing factor, with Oil World predicting last minuteshifting of planting and production to sunflowerseed given appreciatingprices there and rainfall and planting delays in winter wheat."World supplies of sunflowerseed are likely to decline in the secondconsecutive season to only 25.45 million tonnes in 2001/02. This is downby 1.1 million from last year .... Sunflowerseed crushings will bedeclining sizeably again by probably 1,000,000 tonnes next season."
