ACCCM Plans Trade And Investment Mission To Iran

KUALA LUMPUR, July 20 (Bernama) -- The Associated Chinese Chambers ofCommerce and Industry of Malaysia (ACCCIM) will organise a trade andinvestment mission to Iran from Aug 25 - Sept 1 2001.

The mission, to be led by ACCCIM secretary-general Tan Sri Soong SiewHong, will promote Malaysian products and services to Iran and identifycompetitive import resources from Iran.

The mission's aim is to also establish smart joint-venture partnershipswith Iranian entrepreneurs, ACCCIM said in a statement here today.

It added that the eight-day mission would also include calls on the Irangovernment agencies, Iran Chamber of Commerce, industries and one-to-onebusiness matching.

ACCCIM said that it will also conduct visits to famous tourism spots.

It added that Malaysian and Iranian entrepreneurs already had anestablished strong relationship.

In 1999, bilateral trade between the countries amounted to US$140 million(RM523 million).

Malaysia exported US$86 million (RM326.8 million) worth of products toIran including crude rubber, paper products and palm oil.
