India’s palm oil imports from Malaysia rise

15.04.2021 (www.thestar.com.my) - PETALING JAYA: India’s palm oil imports from Malaysia rose 50% in March compared with February’s volumes as the country’s monthly overall edible imports grew.

Latest data from Mumbai-based trade group Solvent Extractors’ Association (SEA) showed Indian imports of palm oil from Malaysia in March were made up of 270,195 tonnes of crude palm oil (CPO), 1,500 tonnes of RBD palmolein and 11,082 tonnes of crude palm kernel oil (CPKO).

In February, the country imported 187,387 tonnes of Malaysian palm oil.

India’s total edible oil imports last month were 957,633 tonnes compared with 796,568 tonnes in February.

Palm oil constituted about 55% of overall Indian vegetable oil imports in March.

CPO volumes during the month were 506,533 tonnes, RBD palmolein 2,500 tonnes and CPKO imports were at 17,430 tonnes. ─ Bernama
