Consumers' Doubt, A Challenge To Marketing Palm Oi

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 20 (Bernama) -- One of the difficult challenges faced bythe palm oil industry when it comes to marketing, is the consumers'negative perception regarding the oils nutritional aspects.

Malaysian Palm Oil Promotion Council (MPOPC) chairman Datuk Lee Oi Hiansaid that the negative perception still exist.

This is despite numerous nutritional trials validating the positiveattributes of palm oil and the prove that palm oil does not raise bloodcholesterol level, he said.

Lee said this in his working paper entitled "The Economics and MarketingChallenges of Vegetable oils and Fats in the New Millennium" at theInternational Palm Oil Congress 2001 (PIPOC 2001) here Monday.

He said that the challenge lies in the dissemination of information whichcould be easily understood by consumers, and to maintain focus on thepositive aspects of palm oil. -- BERNAMA
